Yes, and we would encourage it. The dam is always here and can be met at pickup. Where the sire is an outside stud we will tell you so plainly, and share his health testing and photographs. Meeting the parents tells you more about an adult dog than any puppy ever can.

Hips, elbows and eyes are evaluated before pairing, alongside cardiac assessment. We genetically test for the hereditary conditions Dachshunds carry, including von Willebrand's disease and progressive retinal atrophy. Documentation is available on request — just ask.

A small number, and never more than one girl in whelp at a time. That is deliberate. It is the only way every puppy gets the individual handling that produces a settled adult.

Yes — a lifetime genetic health guarantee covering serious congenital and hereditary conditions. It requires a veterinary check within seven days of collection to activate. The full terms are on our Health Guarantee page.

It is the breed's real risk and we will not pretend otherwise. We screen for spinal conformation, avoid pairings with a family history, and send every family home knowing how to lift correctly, when to use ramps and what early warning signs look like. Prevention genuinely works.

They grow up in the middle of a busy household — children, visitors, the vacuum, the doorbell, the television, car journeys. By the time they leave, ordinary domestic life is boring to them, which is exactly what you want.

A high-quality small-breed puppy food, and we tell you the exact brand so you can have it in the house before arrival. If you would rather switch, do it gradually over a week to avoid an upset stomach.

Begin the day they arrive. Dachshunds are bright and extremely stubborn — a combination that rewards short, positive, consistent sessions and punishes nagging. Ours leave started on crate rest and paper training, but the real work is yours. We are happy to advise throughout.

We do, and it is free to join. If you are hoping for a particular colour, coat or sex, tell us and we will let you know when a matching litter is planned. There is no obligation at any point.

After we have spoken and you are approved, a deposit reserves your chosen puppy and takes them off the available list. You then receive the purchase agreement, the health file and a written go-home plan. Start on our contact page.
